❤️ #64 - 19 Jobs at the LEGO Group

Hi Friend!
Back with a few new roles. Hope you have a great start to the week! Here’s what I am musing about this week…

I am following up last newsletters musings with this, I cant stop thinking about this.

The best designers, they articulate problems, even better than articulating solutions sometimes.

“The Power of Words in Design”

I love names that borrow prestige, words that instantly elevate something simply by association.

The food industry mastered this long before startups did. No one would pay forty dollars for Patagonian toothfish. But call it Chilean sea bass, and suddenly it belongs on fine-dining menus everywhere.

Belgian waffles. Himalayan pink salt. Kobe beef. Dijon mustard. These aren’t just ingredients, they’re stories. They carry a sense of place, culture, and sophistication. They sound exotic, hinting at journeys and tastes beyond the everyday. A name alone can make the ordinary feel extraordinary.

Words are design elements. They shape perception before visuals even enter the equation. A label, a product name, a tagline, or even the way you describe a feature can transform how people experience your work.

They shape perception before experience even begins.

I am trademarking that.

Someone smarter that me. once told me something that stuck:

“The first sign that someone is changing is when their words start changing.”

For designers, the takeaway is simple but profound: words are part of your toolkit. They frame problems, highlight solutions, and guide perception. The best designers don’t just solve problems, they articulate them.

Don’t dismiss this JUST branding and marketing, your job as a designer is to sell your ideas, yourself, your concepts and more. Even if you are part of a big company and you are JUST a cog in the wheel, you owe it to designers everywhere to ALWAYS be reframing ideas.

Sometimes, the clarity of your words is what makes the design work at all.

TRY IT…
