Would You Put Your Portfolio in Your Portfolio?

Your portfolio is you, in digital form.

It’s your chance to show what you can do, how you think, and why you’re the designer someone needs.

So, would you actually put your portfolio in your portfolio?

If the answer is no, you’ve got some work to do.

Be Intentional

Every project should be chosen with purpose. Don’t overload your portfolio with everything you’ve ever done. Pick the best work that aligns with your career goals and demonstrates your problem-solving abilities. Remember: quality over quantity. One solid case study beats ten mediocre ones.

Show the Process

Design isn’t just about pretty visuals—it’s about the journey. Don’t just show finished designs; show your thought process. Include sketches, wireframes, and iterations. This is where you showcase how you work and solve real problems, not just make things look nice.

But keep it short and sweet, learn to share the process that is most vital. Which leads to the next point

Keep It Tight

Make your portfolio easy to navigate. It should be simple, clean, and user-friendly. If it’s hard to find your best work, it won’t leave a lasting impression.

Update Regularly

A stale portfolio is a red flag. Keep it fresh by updating with new projects, skills, and insights. Your portfolio should evolve as you do.

To end this, just make sure you are sharing your best work in the best way possible.
